Tango

After designing cutlery, chef’s knives and children’s cutlery for DESIGN LETTERS, Fiskars, Coop and Raadvad I was ready to try something new. Earlier I had designed a salt-and-pepper set based on flamenco dancing in Osuna, Spain, and that became the source of inspiration for a new collaboration and a new story. I chose Monica Ritterband as my collaboration partner, and together we created the design story Tango.

Our work revolved around man, woman, dance. This focus led to many fascinating organic forms. It was a big challenge to bring the very organic forms together in a coherent and taut functional series. We discovered that our design expressions were very different, but through many talks and sketches we were able to tighten up and simplify the form to create this beautiful story.
