Thermo Bottle for Design Letters

I began work on this project by drawing countless sketches of sculptures that were slender, curvy, tall, short, chubby, until eventually, I had to stop sketching and ask myself, what is the actual task here? A simple answer emerged from the fog of sketches: a flask with a screw top! Boy, was I happy to see that answer. Sometimes it takes something really simple to help you see life more clearly. Now I began to explore all the ways to solve this task and ultimately fell for the simple nut. The shape clearly communicates its purpose, and the many facets make it beautiful and provide a good grip. I designed the top for the flask based on these ideas, and the container followed naturally. The typography featured on the flask was originally designed for Aarhus City Hall by my grandfather and Erik Møller. I am proud to use it.”
